Transportation to Education/Training The AtJ Program provides a gas card to eligible DTA recipients who are participating in an ESP approved Education or Training Program, has access to a vehicle or is able to find a co-worker, family member or other person who can drive them to the destination. The gas card enables the recipient to purchase gas based on the round-trip mileage of the trip including childcare. Procedures Gas Card Value The value of the gas card is based on the person’s round-trip mileage to job training or education program with child care if necessary, number of days per month participating in the program, current gas prices and an average miles per gallon (mpg) of 16.For example, recipient travels 10 roundtrip miles (rtm) per day and participates in a program an average of 21 days per month. The value of the card would be $39.39 per month. If it is determined that the fuel costs exceed $80.00 per month, the card value would only be $80.00 per month. 10 rtm x 21 days = 210 miles divided by 16 mpg = 13.13 gallons x $3.00 per gallon = $39.39
